A Message from the Health Commission: Pedestrian safety
Pedestrian safety is a shared responsibility. Whether you are walking, biking, or driving, staying alert and following traffic laws helps keep everyone safe.
New Jersey's Safe Passing Law requires drivers to slow down, move over when possible (4 feet), and provide safe passing space for pedestrians and other vulnerable road users. Drivers must also stop for pedestrians in crosswalks and obey posted speed limits. Please review the attached infographic for important pedestrian safety tips for drivers, children, older adults, and all road users.
