Captain Lou Sanchez

Captain Sanchez joined the department in December 1999 and worked in the Patrol Division until January 2005, when he was assigned to the Investigations Division. Sanchez was promoted to Sergeant in September 2012 to Lieutenant in 2017 and to Captain in 2024, where he currently is in charge of the organization section of the department overseeing the Investigation Division, Support Services Division and the Traffic Unit. Throughout his career he has received numerous departmental awards including the 2007 and the 2011 Meritorious Service Award from the Morris County Detective's Association, three Exceptional Duty Awards, fifteen Honorable Service Awards, seven Grand Cordon, two Physical Fitness Awards, an Educational Achievement Award, and three Program Development Awards. Lt. Sanchez is fluent in Spanish and regularly assists as an interpreter for neighboring departments. He is a graduate of West Point Command and Leadership and is an Accredited Command Executive. He also is a certified Drug Recognition Evaluator. Sanchez is a graduate of Centenary College and holds a B.A. in Business.
