Carlton Hills Water

Kitchen faucet with water coming out

Dear Residents,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to follow up on my October 22, 2024, letter regarding the actions the Township has initiated to make improvements to the water infrastructure within the Carlton Hills Water System. Since October, the following has been completed:

  1. During the months of March and April, all pneumatic valves which control the normal water flow and backwash cycles have been replaced. This will improve system efficiency and enhance water quality by preventing air pockets within the system.
  2. After the pneumatic valves were replaced, core media samples from each filter vessel were sampled and sent to the lab for an independent analysis to determine its effectiveness. The evaluation of the Greensand Plus media, completed by Hungerford & Terry, Inc., showed that the media is in good condition and is suitable for further service. The report can be found below or clicking here. The core media sampling will continue on an annual basis.

Moving forward, the Township will continue with the directional hydrant flushing on a biannual basis to thoroughly flush out any iron sediment in the distribution system and continue to backwash the system three (3) times a week to further improve the water quality.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please send them to CarltonHillsWater [at] mtolivetwp.org (CarltonHillsWater[at]mtolivetwp[dot]org).

Thank you again for your input and support.

Sincerely,
Mayor Joe Nicastro
