Sergeant Matthew Gumann

Upon joining the department in January 1999, Gumann was assigned to the Patrol Division. Gumann is currently assigned to the Patrol Division as a supervisor.  Some of his training includes Interview and Interrogation, Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and High Risk Motor Vehicle Stops. Gumann serves as a Field Training Officer, department bicycle officer and is a member of the department's Honor Guard. He is a department Firearms Instructor, Assault Rifle Instructor, Radar Instructor, Force on Force Instructor and MP5 (subgun) Instructor. He is a current member of the Morris County Rapid Deployment Team (RDT), which responds to acts of terrorism and technological/natural disasters that arise in the state. Sgt. Gumann's departmental awards include the 2002 Knights of Columbus Shield Award, a Meritorious Service Award, four Life Saving Awards, an Honorable Service Award, a Grand Cordon, a Physical Fitness Award and an Educational Achievement Award. He is a graduate of William Paterson University and holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
